List of MTB routes and itineraries
Here is a non-exhaustive list of mountain bike itineraries, there are rides in all sectors and for all levels. The relatively steep terrain of Oisans means that there are a good number of technical paths aimed at experienced mountain bikers.
The routes are open throughout the summer months (generally May to the end of October) and do not require the use of ski lifts.
Colour coding of levels
GREEN
Simple rides. These are very easy and are ideal for family outings. Slopes are gentle and the paths generally wide enough to enable you to put your feet down if you find a section tricky.
BLUE
Generally easy rides, but for riders with a certain amount of experience.
RED
Difficult rides, with some challenging, technical sections. These are for riders with a considerable amount of experience.
BLACK
Advanced technical skills and/or endurance are needed for these very difficult rides. For expert riders only.
Waymarks
Even though some of the rides featured in this guide follow “VTT” waymarks (particularly in the “Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine VTT” and “Espace VTT-FFC – La Grave la Meije Villar d’Arène” areas), there is no special waymarking for the itineraries provided.
Oisans is well covered by a system of path signposting.
