Le Bourg-d'Oisans has staged the departure of a Tour de France stage 17 times since 1952.
6 stages have had a fictitious start in Alpe d'Huez, the real start being given in Bourg-d'Oisans (5 times) or in Rochetaillée.
Le Bourg-d'Oisans was the actual start of the 18th and 19th stages in 1979, the 20th stage in 1981, the 18th stage in 1983 and, again, the 18th stage in 1984. Rochetaillée, near Le Bourg-d'Oisans, was the actual start of the 17th stage in 1982. Le Bourg-d'Oisans was the starting town for the 13th stage of the 2018 Tour de France.
